Every Kudzu customer’s data is protected by advanced encryption technology as well as the Visa Zero Liability Policy6, which means you won’t be held responsible for unauthorized charges made with your debit card, as long as you report them quickly. If a transaction looks shady, you can lock your card instantly and contact support for additional help.
Are my deposits insured?
Yes. Your Kudzu deposits are FDIC insured up to $250,000 through The Bancorp Bank, N.A., Member FDIC11. Kudzu is not FDIC-insured. Deposit insurance coverage only protects against failure of The Bancorp Bank, N.A.
Are there limits on how often I can transfer money?
No. Kudzu allows unlimited transfers between your spending and savings accounts. You can move money whenever you need—whether you’re covering an unexpected expense or shifting extra funds into savings. There are no penalties, no transfer limits, and no waiting periods. Your savings balance is flexible and always within reach.
Are there really no hidden fees?
That’s right. Our goal is to help you keep more of your money and make it grow. We don’t charge low-balance fees, monthly maintenance fees or overdraft fees15. No surprise fees—ever. You can always view the fees we do charge on our fees page.
Can I add my child as an authorized user on my Kudzu account?
Can I change my alert settings?
You have full control over both your Kudzu Alerts3 and SpendSense Alerts3 in the app or online. For Kudzu Alerts, you can customize them to include things like transactions, low balances, and more. For SpendSense Alerts, you can set your own daily, weekly, or monthly spending limits. For both, you can choose between SMS, email, and push notifications.
Can I customize my SpendSense limits?
Absolutely. You can choose the time frame (daily, weekly, and/or monthly) and set the specific dollar amount that fits your goals and lifestyle. Whether you’re budgeting for groceries, dining out, or just trying to rein in your spending, SpendSense Alerts3 gives you flexible controls that fit how you manage money.
Can I make purchases before I receive my Kudzu debit card?
Yes! Kudzu offers an instant virtual debit card, meaning you don’t have to wait for a physical card to start spending. As soon as your account is open, your digital debit card is ready to go. Shop safely online when you add it to your mobile wallet (Apple Pay or Google Pay) for contactless payments. And, don’t worry, your physical card will arrive 7-10 days after you fund your spending account.
Can I manage Kudzu and smiONE in the same app?
Can I move money between goals?
Yes. Kudzu+5 allows you to transfer funds between your Savings Goals whenever you need. If a goal is locked, you’ll need to unlock it first, but the flexibility is there. You can also move funds back into your main savings balance at any time.

Can I set up multiple goals if I don’t have Kudzu+?
No. The ability to set multiple goals is a feature exclusive to Kudzu+5 members. However, all users can still set up recurring transfers and grow a single savings account automatically. If you upgrade to Kudzu+, you’ll be able to create up to five savings goals and track each one separately.
